My Meditation Playground by: Kelley Seriano

What if you were to get a letter in the mail, similar to a notice from the IRS? Yet, this one indicates that if you continue pushing your body beyond the threshold of manageable stress – you will become sick. Maybe it’s as simple as a constant eye twitch or something as life threatening as cancer. Bottom line, it is time for a lifestyle change. As you sit with this letter….your mind begins to race. The left side hemisphere of your brain is trying to crunch numbers to figure out what illness is in your family DNA – staying logical and mapping your probability. While the right side dances with the idea of you opening up a flower shop or becoming a quitting your full time job. At this point you have entered duality. So sit back, and let’s take a journey of the mind. There is a solution to repairing your risk of illness resulting from stress, it is called Neurosculpting® Meditation.

Finding a comfortable seat, closing your eyes…you begin to fall into your chair. The adrenaline and cortisol that once raced through your body is leaving, your sweaty palms become dry again and that pounding headache goes away. Start to think of your lifestyle. What keeps you up at night?   Allowing these thoughts to surface, STRESS……MONEY…..NO TIME…..and then rinse them clean from your mind with an imaginary giant cosmic hose. Certainly begins to enter your mind as your think about your priorities. You may even decide to spell it out the word, which will take you out of the resistance center of your brain and into your executive thinking center. C.E.T.A.I.N.T.Y. Now your lifestyle habits start to float across your mind. First up, Fitness….ok, you have a gym membership. If you use it 4 times a week you will experience brain derived neurotrophic factor BDNF. BDNF supports the survival of existing neurons, and encourage the growth and differentiation of new neurons and synapses. The next thing that comes to mind is breath. For the first time today, you are noticing your breath. I wonder how life would be different if you sat and breathed for 5 minutes each morning, 5 minutes at lunch and then at the end of the day, before bed. Paying attention to your breath will allow your body come to a relaxed state verse an excited state.

Continue building your playground. The little secret about Neurosculpting® Mediation is there is no wrong way to do it! Looking at your current career, how would applying ease change your outlook on work? What if you imagine that person that you hate dressed as a clown? Yes, humor! Congrats on the instant dopamine release. Family, kids….How would it look if you placed amusement and laughter across the images of your loved ones before you enter your home at the end of the day? Does it lighten the worry or expectations? Keep dreaming….Keep playing with images, shapes and concepts. Allowing your left hemisphere and right hemisphere to dance as YOU create your meditation playground.

Neurosculpting® is a blend of nutrition, exercise spirituality and meditation. I hope to share more with you about the playground I have created that saved my life from daily stress, chronic pain in my body and destructive thought patterns.
